Hiring a garden designer
Many of us will be comfortable with the notion of designing and re-imagining our interior spaces, but when it comes to the outside it can often leave us feeling a little dazed and confused, not least because the garden is a living breathing entity that evolves over time and can be dramatically affected by the elements. If you are thinking of re-designing your garden but are feeling a little daunted, help is at hand in the shape of a garden design plan that provides the roadmap to transforming your outside space into the garden of your dreams.
Working with a garden designer gives you access to a wealth of design experience and horticultural know-how, not to mention those all important garden features such as pergolas, outdoor kitchens, garden rooms, planters and firepits that personalise the exterior to make sure it meets your every need. But to get to this point requires a good understanding of what you want to achieve in the garden and it's a good idea to start off with a wish-list. Once you have your list of ideas and images, look around for a designer that you feel would be suitable for your project. Good questions to ask are: do I like their work? have they tackled similar projects? are they located close to me? Ask to see examples of their work, especially before and after images, so you get a real feel for their style and approach (see some of our before and after project images above and below).
Online resources, such as Instagram and Houzz, are a great starting point and provide a wealth of information about design professionals who may be the right fit for your project. Once you've selected your designer, sharing your wish-list of essential and/or desirable requirements will enable us to discuss outline ideas and an approach for your project, and ultimately create a garden design tailored specifically to you. We can also help with tenders and contractor selection, and sourcing plants and other items to complete your project. Once the garden's finished, we can support you in caring for your new garden by providing detailed plant care calendars and periodic aftercare visits to ensure your garden stays in tip top condition.
